Exploring modern world history through the culture, creativity, and trends of each era!

This dynamic course explores modern world history from the 1800s to today through the lens of pop culture, daily life, and the defining events that shaped each decade. Students move chronologically through more than two centuries of change, discovering how music, fashion, technology, entertainment, and everyday experiences reflect the world around them.

Each decade highlights major historical turning points—revolutions, wars, social movements, scientific breakthroughs, and cultural shifts—paired with the pop culture that grew alongside them. From Victorian etiquette to Jazz Age glamour, wartime rationing to rock‑and‑roll rebellion, disco to grunge, and the rise of the internet to today’s digital culture, students see how ordinary people lived, what they wore, what they listened to, and what captured their imaginations.

Along the way, students examine iconic trends, influential figures, and surprising “did‑you‑know” moments that make history feel alive and relatable. By connecting global events with the music, clothing, slang, inventions, and cultural moments of each era, students gain a deeper understanding of how the modern world was built—one decade at a time.
