Sci-Fi/Fantasy Literature
with Ginger Lockamy

Sci-Fi/Fantasy Literature: Step into worlds of wonder, adventure, and imagination in this year-long exploration of science fiction and fantasy literature. From medieval enchantments to futuristic discoveries, this course examines how authors use speculative storytelling to explore human nature, morality, and the limits of possibility. Through studying classic and modern works, students will analyze themes of heroism, technology, power, and the unknown while developing critical reading, discussion, and analytical writing skills. Along the way, we will consider how these fantastical tales reflect real-world ideas, fears, and aspirations. Whether journeying to distant planets, magical realms, or alternate histories, students will discover why these genres continue to captivate readers and shape the way we see our own world.
